My Story

10 years, 1 month since her MammoSite treatment.

As a 2-time cancer survivor I was recently diagnosed with a malignant tumor on my good left breast. I had a mastectomy in 2000 due to the fact that MammoSite therapy was not available at that time. Because I was radiated on my chest when I was 18 years old and diagnosed with Hodgkin’s disease you cannot be radiated externally in the same place, hence my only option was a mastectomy. In August of 2008 when my breast MRI came back with a malignant tumor, I went to my surgeon who did my mastectomy to discuss my options. We discussed MammoSite radiation and it would only take 5 days. I went to see Dr. Diamond to see if I was a candidate, and thankfully I was! Cancer by no means is easy, but compared to what I have been through in my past this was a breeze. I saved my breast, there was no pain involved and I continued working through out my treatment. I would recommend this to every woman who is a candidate and I would be honored to speak to anyone in regard to this type of treatment.
