My Story

Donna | age 74
Charlotte, NC
11 years, 9 months since her MammoSite treatment.

How fortunate we are in this day and time to have the newest technology available to breast cancer patients. When I was diagnosed in June of this year, 2007, I was devastated. My first thoughts went to my own mother who died of breast cancer 12 years ago. I remembered how she suffered with her radiation treatments. When my surgeon gave me the option to have the newer MammoSite therapy instead of the traditional radiation, I was a little afraid, but after doing my research, it seemed the wisest choice to make. Ten treatments over the span of just five days was a wonderful option, considering the former therapies that take 5 - 7 weeks of daily treatments. I am so grateful that I qualified for the MammoSite partial breast irradiation. I was able to go back to work the next week. I went on vacation several weeks later and resumed all my normal activities. What a blessing!
