My Story

Barbara919 | age 63
Binghamton, NY
9 years, 2 months since her MammoSite treatment.

Let me start by saying my mother died of breast cancer in her early 30ís so I have always been closely monitored. In the past I have had abnormal mammograms and three earlier biopsies.

In April I had a mammogram that caused concern. After another mammogram and a couple of ultrasounds my surgeon opted for another biopsy. This did come back with carcinoma cells in situ in the duct.

I opted for MammoSite because of the localization of the treatment and also for the time frame involved. I will be honest, I had a bit of a challenge with my balloon and ended up having multiple insertions due to the location of my tumor and some other issues. I am finishing my MammoSite treatments this afternoon and I have not had a single side effect from this.

Most of the time I would not even know that the balloon was there. I cannot recommend this treatment highly enough. If it fits your cancer please consider it.
